Days after the Tanzania Vodacom league champions Yanga were advised by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to put registration of Uganda Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi on hold, the World's Football governing body, FIFA has moved on to issue a Monday 27th January 2014 ultimatum to Tunisian club Etoile Du Sahel on matters whether the team will pay the $ 300,000 that they allegedly owe Okwi's former Club, Simba.

In a communique to Simba Football Club, FIFA has already appointed a single judge to start handling the case which will commence on January 28th. Simba Football Club Chairman Ismail Aden Rage is quoted by Tanzanian daily news having stated that FIFA sent them an email reminding Etoile to confirm where they will pay the money ($ 300,000) before FIFA's player status committee has the final say on the matter.

Last week, The Tanzania Football  Federation’s officer in charge of information Boniface Wambura said that Okwi’s registration has been halted as they seek clarity from the Federation of International Football (FIFA) on his status after learning that SC Villa of Uganda were granted a provisional permit by FIFA.

Okwi was granted a six month provisional permit by FIFA to feature for Ugandan Club, Sports Club Villa following disagreements with Tunisian club Etoile Du Sahel which the striker alleges to have breached his contract. Etoile du Sahel still claims that Okwi he is their player with a valid contract.

Okwi joined Yanga in December after featuring for The Cranes in the 2013 CECAFA Challenge Cup. Despite featuring for SC Villa in the domestic league first round, CAF did not permit the striker to feature in CHAN citing that he was only on loan from Etoile and thus not allowed to feature for a tournament of locally based players.

The player missed Yanga's 2 -1 victory at the Dar es salaam National Stadium over Ashanti over the weekend. Left back, David Luhende and Burundian import, Didier Kavumbagu got Yanga's goals while Nigerian striker, Bright Obinna scored Ashanti's consolation.
